چکیده

Traditional rejection/reduction tests used in branch-and-prune methods for nonlinear systems usually are based on various forms of the interval Newton operator and constraint propagation techniques. Hence, they are relatively costly. This paper considers an additional phase of a branchand-prune method for the exclusion of regions not containing any solutions. Low-discrepancy sequences of Sobol are used to locate such regions, together with solving the interval tolerance problem and ε-inflation. Parallelization using the TBB library is also considered, and some numerical results are presented.

Using Quadratic Approximations in an Interval Method for Solving Underdetermined and Well-Determined Nonlinear Systems

This paper considers quadratic approximation as a narrowing tool in an interval branch-and-prune method. We seek the roots of such an approximate equation – a quadratic equation with interval parameters. Heuristics to decide, when to use the developed operator, are proposed. Numerical results for some benchmark problems are presented and analyzed.

A Symbolic-Numerical Branch and Prune Algorithm for Solving Non-linear Polynomial Systems

This paper discusses the processing of non-linear polynomial systems using a branch and prune algorithm within the framework of constraint programming. We propose a formalism for a kind of branch and prune algorithm implementing symbolic and numerical methods to reduce the systems with respect to a relation de ned from both inclusion of variable domains and inclusion of sets of constraints. The...

Computing reachable sets for uncertain nonlinear hybrid systems using interval constraint propagation techniques

We investigate solution techniques for numerical constraint satisfaction problems and validated numerical set integration methods for computing reachable sets of nonlinear hybrid dynamical systems in presence of uncertainty. To use interval simulation tools with higher dimensional hybrid systems, while assuming large domains for either initial continuous state or model parameter vectors, we nee...

Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems

Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

Solving Nonlinear Systems by Constraint Inversion and Interval Arithmetic

A reliable symbolic-numeric algorithm for solving nonlinear systems over the reals is designed. The symbolic step generates a new system, such the formulas are different but the solutions are preserved, through partial factorizations of polynomial expressions, and constraint inversion. The numeric step is a branch-and-prune algorithm based on interval constraint propagation to compute a set of ...
